Department of Anesthesiology, Eul-zi General Hospital, Seoul, Korea.
Abstract
The effectiveness of continuous spinal anesthesia for bilateral adreectomy and oophorectomy was observed in two cases of breast cancer. The following results were obtained. After 1 hour of 10 mg of tetracaine in the spinal, the patients blood pressure, pulse rate and respiratory rate started to drop. By 2 hours after anesthesia, the vital signs had dropped approximately 20~25%. However, they were restored to almost pre-operative levels with continuous infusion throughout the operation period, of Ringers lactate solution containing 100 mg of hydrocortisone, even though 5 mg of tetracaine was given to the patients every an hour for a total of 30 mg.
